Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone
or an upside-down baking sheet in the oven while it
preheats. This will help ensure a crispy crust.
Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to
your desired thickness. If you prefer a thin crust, roll it
out thinner; for a thicker crust, leave it a bit thicker.
Once the dough is rolled out, transfer it to a pizza peel or
another flat surface that's been lightly dusted with
cornmeal or flour. This will make it easier to transfer the
pizza to the oven later.
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a
small border around the edges for the crust.
Arrange the sliced mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
Then, place the sliced tomatoes on top of the cheese.
Season the pizza with salt and pepper to taste. You can also
drizzle a little olive oil over the top for added flavor.
Carefully transfer the assembled pizza to the preheated oven
using the pizza peel or flat surface. If you're using a
pizza stone, slide the pizza directly onto the stone. If
you're using a baking sheet, carefully transfer the pizza
onto the hot baking sheet.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or
until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and
slightly browned.
Once the pizza is done, remove it from the oven and sprinkle
torn basil leaves over the top for a fresh burst of flavor.
Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing and
serving. Enjoy your classic Margherita pizza!
